My Health Savings Account Benefits

My Health Savings Account Benefits

If you enroll in the Bronze or Silver plan, you may be eligible to establish an individually owned Health Savings Account (H.S.A.). Health Equity will send you a welcome packet containing an H.S.A. debit card. If you are going to fund the H.S.A., follow the instructions for activating your card and set up a new account on their portal.

The Richards Group will offer payroll deduction support to Health Equity, so you may elect to make pre-tax contributions direct to your account from your paycheck. You may make or change your H.S.A. contribution election on Bswift.

2020: The Richards Group will MATCH your H.S.A contribution up to $20 per pay period if you are enrolled in either Bronze or Silver plans!

For those of you who are already contributing to your HSA, this will feel like an added bonus as you continue to grow your medical nest egg. For those of you who do not participate, this is an incentive to start now. Unused dollars from this account roll over into the next plan year and ultimately can bolster your retirement savings. Funds in an HSA grow tax-free and remain yours forever.

My FSA & DCA Benefits

An FSA is an annual election whereby an employee can elect to make pre-tax contributions to:

General Medical Reimbursement Account
  • You may use your contributions to pay for unreimbursed/uncovered medical, dental and vision expenses.
  • This is the plan to be used if you enroll in the Gold medical plan or if you are insured under another plan that is NOT a qualified, high deductible health plan.
  • Maximum contribution amount is up to the IRS guidelines.
  • Unused dollars from prior plan year up to a maximum of $500 may be carried over into the next plan year. Any unused dollars above this amount will be forfeited.
Limited Medical Reimbursement Account
  • You may use your contributions to pay for unreimbursed/uncovered dental and vision expenses only – not medical.
  • This is the plan to be used if you enroll in the Bronze or Silver medical plan, or if you are insured under another plan that IS a qualified, high deductible health plan.
  • Maximum contribution amount is up to the IRS guidelines.

Dependent Care Account
  • You may use these contributions to pay for expenses associated with providing care to children under age 13.

My Voluntary Short Term Disability Benefits

The Richards Group offers Voluntary Short Term Disability coverage. The benefits pay out if you are disabled, on the 1st day, due to an accident or the 8th day due to an illness. The benefits pay up to 60% of your weekly pre-disability income, up to a limit of $1,500 per week. Benefits can last up to 13 weeks for a continued qualified disability.

My Retirement Benefits

The Richards Group plan is a 401(k) and Profit Sharing plan.  After meeting eligibility, employees may elect to make contributions to their 401(k) accounts via payroll deduction on a pre-tax or post tax (Roth) basis.  Profit Sharing by the company is discretionary and will be elected annually based on overall performance.  In recent years, TRG profit sharing contributions have been 4% of an employee’s annual salary.

Contributions

Between 1% and 100% of salary up to the Internal Revenue Service limits.  For 2020 the annual contribution is $19,500.  If you reach the age of 50 anytime during the calendar year or are over 50 you may make additional “catch-up” contributions.  For 2020, you can make “catch-up” contributions of up to $6,500.

Eligibility

All employees who are at least 21 years of age and work a minimum of 1000 hours per year.  Participation can begin the first of the month after six months of eligible service.
